Gateway’s National Free to Speak Campaign
Gateways to Better Education helps Good News Clubs flourish by assisting public schools in becoming more faith friendly. We accomplish this through our National Free to Speak Campaign, a tool that breaks up the hard soil that often comes from fear and confusion about religion in public schools. We do this by providing tools and training for administrators, teachers, and parents about their religious freedom at school and ways to express their faith within the law. Our goal is to help public schools appreciate the value of Good News Clubs and foster a more welcoming environment.
Gateways to Better Education is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 to help public school educators, parents and school leaders teach about the important contribution the Bible and Christianity make to the world. We show them how to do this legally and appropriately within existing constitutional boundaries, current laws, and state academic standards. The National Free to Speak Campaign promotes the U.S. Department of Education’s Guidance on religious freedom in public schools.
“Church, please consider joining me in endorsing and promoting Gateways to Better Education as a resource in your community. Your schools will be more faith-friendly places, and your children will have a better future because of it”.
We want to help build more community to support your club!
THE VISION FOR YOUR SCHOOLS
Imagine these 5 things happening in your local schools
The National Free to Speak Campaign brings to your community something that has never been done before. With God’s help, you will engage the Body of Christ throughout your schools to: (1) help your schools be more faith friendly; (2) inspire your younger brothers and sisters in Christ to express their faith in their lives and schoolwork; and, (3) teach all students about the good the Bible and Christianity bring to the world, to America, and to their own lives.
ACHIEVE THE RESULTS WITH SIX KEY PARTNERS
We will recruit advocates to help the Body of Christ work together
We provide practical tools for teachers and club leaders. These include: Free to Speak pamphlets, flyers, classroom posters, and are working on a mobile app; PowerPoint slides for classroom use; links to videos explaining freedom of religious expression to students and faculty; a lesson plan guide for teaching about religious freedom; and an “I Can” lesson for youth groups and student clubs that encourages them to express their faith in class.
The webinars are customized for your community to include your state’s academic standards and laws related to teaching about the Bible and Christianity. The webinars also highlight local school ministries, including your Good News Clubs!
When the National Free to Speak Campaign is launched in your community, every school official in your schools will receive a six-page, personalized letter from an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom. It addresses common questions school leaders have about religious freedom.
We also provide a model policy your school board can adopt that aligns with the U.S. Department of Education’s Guidance on religious freedom. This brings clarity and helps avoid legal problems.
